How to Find ALL the Terms Customers Use When They Search Online

Printer-Friendly Format

Recent research shows most people do a search with more than 2 words: not just 'wedding' or 'caterer', but 'Melbourne wedding' or 'Melbourne wedding caterer'. It makes sense.

So you need to have those word combinations and terms mentioned on your site.

Here's how to see nearly all the popular terms that people actually search for, using Google Suggest, a clever tool that shows you the phrases commonly used.

The trick is to use each of your main words, then add a space and 'a' straight after it, then 'b', then 'c' etc. For example 'Italian a', 'Italian b', 'Party a', 'Catering d'.

You will find search terms you've never even thought of, to be used in the words and descriptions on your website. using the same terms.

Here's what came up when we searched for 'Italian + a':

If you're an Italian restaurant, you can now see the importance of mentioning your love of 'Italian art' and 'Italian artists' - there will be a way to write it somewhere!

Here's what came up when we searched for 'Italian + b':

And of course your 'Italian bread' is well-known, it's from your uncle's 'Italian bread recipe', just like his 'Italian beef' recipe.

Here's what came up when we searched for 'Party + c':

If you're in the business of parties, make sure you stake a claim to be 'party central', and offer 'party cakes'. If you're in the business of celebrating, run a similar check with the words 'birthday + a', 'birthday + b' etc.

Yahoo have a useful Keyword Selector Tool based on their search engine, but it only builds on a single word eg 'restaurant' or 'Italian'.
