Teflon Invented in 1938. Polytetrafluoroethyle better known as Telfon. This resin revolutionised the cookware industry.

First McDonalds opens. In 1955 Ray Kroc opened the first franchised McDonalds in Des Plaines. Today the Golden Arches is the world's most successful fast food franchise and can be found in every continent of the world. In more recent years McDonalds has reinvented itself by offering "healthier" fast food alternative.

United Nations. World Book and Copyright Day was organised by UNESCO in 1955 for the protection of Intellectual Property through Copyright.

Anzac Day - Australia and New Zealand. A day set aside to honour the soldiers who bravely fought during War World 1 on the shores of Gallipoli.

Richter Scale. Born in 1900, Charles Francis Richter developed the Earthquake Magnitude Scale known as the Richer Scale.

Jerry Seinfield. Born in Brooklyn, NY in 1954 Jerry Seinfeld is best known for his popular comedy series which ran for a total of nine seasons from1989 to 1998.
