Getting it Right with Sponsorship

Creating great results for Dragons Abreast, Hogs Breath Cafe and other sponsors.

It's often said that business should support the community, and community groups should be more self-reliant in fund raising. The benefits for both parties are obvious, and we're proud to show you how it can be done so both parties benefit.

As a part of our annual support for Breast Cancer Awareness in October, we are:

  • Supporting the activities of Dragons Abreast
  • Publicising the activities of businesses who are sponsoring the group
  • Showing you how to get the best for your business by taking a planned, strategic approach to community support.

The Project

Launch of the new book A Dragon's Tale, increasing the profile and the bottom line for Hog's Breath Cafe and raising funds for Dragons Abreast.

Current Sponsors and Partnerships:

  • Hog's Breath Cafes all around Australia will be sponsoring the book launch cocktail party for A Dragons Tale.
  • Dragons Abreast will attract 100 plus guests to each event.
  • Profitable Hospitality will manage an educational promotional program, identifying pros and cons for sponsorship, how to make it work, and the benefits to all parties.

Objectives for Dragons Abreast:

  • To launch 'A Dragon's Tale', a book commemorating the journey of Dragons Abreast Australia.
  • To promote the book and sell significant copies - raise funds
  • To leverage from the launch events to promote widely the 'Abreast in Australia' International Dragon Boat Regatta at Caloundra Qld: 28-30 September 2007
  • Attract local media exposure

Objectives for Hog's Breath Cafes:

  • Increase community awareness, local support of its business, increased profitability and an opportunity to support the community
  • Attract local media exposure
  • Attract industry recognition through trade media campaign
  • Be seen to be a good corporate citizen

Objectives for Profitable Hospitality in publicising the project:

  • Provide clear guidelinea of how sponsorship can work well
  • What can sponsor reasonably expect?
  • What can recipient charity/Not for Profit reasonably expect?
  • How can the sponsor leverage its support?
  • How can the recipient leverage its support?
  • The responsibilites and accountabilities of the sponsor
  • The responsibilites and accountabilites of the recipient
  • Provide compelling case studies and quotes
  • Educate hospitality businesses about the potential for very significant business growth through effective sponsorship relationships

An example of ongoing support over time: Hog's Breath Cafe Darwin has been the leading franchise for the past three years AND Hogs Breath Cafe Darwin has been sponsoring Dragons Abreast for at least the past four years.

Example of specific Event sponsorship: Eco Point Myall Shores Resort as major sponsor of Abreast in Australia 2007 Dragon Boat Regatta in Caloundra 28th-30th September.
