Blogging for Business and Organisations

A Blogging Workshop in Sydney, presented by Ken Burgin.

A blog is an online diary, where you can post updates and information about business events, new products and services, team activities, customer or staff stories and news.

Blogs can be formal or informal: your website gives us the facts, and a blog brings the business to life. You'll be shown examples of blogs from all types of businesses and organisation, and how to find lots more.

This 3-hour workshop will show you fast and effective ways to start and maintain a blog. No technical skills required - just a keyboard!

Topics covered include:

  • Strategy for a blog -- why add it to the marketing mix?
  • Setting the right theme and tone for a business blog
  • Setting up a free blog -- how to make an instant start
  • 60 topics that can be adapted for any blog
  • Finding your voice -- how to be comfortable writing online
  • How to mix words and photos to bring your blog alive
  • Adding quizzes, links and competitions for extra interest
  • How to maintain a flow of fresh and interesting content
  • Sharing blog content with other social media
  • Managing comments and sharing content with others
  • How to find and track blogs in your industry for ideas and inspiration
  • How to list your blog in leading directories and on Google
At the conclusion of the course, you will be able to:
  • Start a blog and add content and pictures
  • Plan a weekly calendar of interesting and relevant blog posts
  • Integrate the blog with their business and professional goals
  • Promote the blog to a wide audience
  • Use the blog content to feed other social media eg Facebook & Twitter
  • Find and use other blogs relevant to business and professional interests
The workshop is a demonstration session using a large screen and with the tutor online. Workshop includes notes and an extensive web page of blog resources. It also includes 6 months of personal consultation (online or in person) with Ken Burgin to assist in the use of blogging in your business or organisation.
